Daimler Announces Smart Car to Go Electric by 2010

Smart Future Electric Car

With ever rising gas prices-Daimler has made a good decision to manufacture the electric version of the smart car. There has been reports that they were testing 100 electric versions of its Smart car in London. We can hope if everything gets done smoothly they will be adding this car to the lineup .Most probably the company will release its EV Smart in 2010.

No price has yet been released for the EV to be. Because the Smart is known not only as a fuel efficient car, but a cheap car, Daimler is deciding whether it wants to sell the batteries with the car or lease them. Leasing has the advantage of a lower up-front cost, but will also mean continued cost of ownership.

In the same year another car will also on the roads, the Chevy Volt which will be worthy competitor to the smart car. I think we are close enough to say farewell to fossil fuels.
