A robotic hand designed & developed by Intel researchers is able to sense the general shape of objects before interacting with them.It works this way: the fingers sends out a weak electrical impulse the impulse get interfered by the object in the front giving the hand a rough figure of what the object is like !

The researchers call this idea the ‘ Pre-Touch’ a sense that has a longer range than touch but a shorter range than vision.
